beginnings

Some things are best left to your dreams -- but not this. Alyssa and I have been thinking about, talking about, obsessing about, making big plans for, forgetting about, recreating plans for and dreaming about Someday Events for years. It just so happens that the 'someday' that coins our idea is no longer someday -- it's now.

We fell in love with events in high school, when we joined a committee of students planning a gala fundraiser for over 500 guests at Oheka Castle on Long Island. Our passion first stemmed from our desire to help our teacher, who had recently been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. Through the past eight years of planning the galas (which have now raised over $2.5 million dollars), attending college & planning new fundraisers and parties, becoming professionals in the non-profit sector, and dreaming about our futures, we are finally ready to get started on our own. We've made the connections, planned the events, attended the parties, established ourselves, and Someday Events is finally here! Follow us on our new journey and spread the word to family, friends, co-workers, anyone.

Check out my sweet sister's wedding -- it took place last weekend in Lake Placid, NY and it was perfect:

white petal aisle, natural wood chairs - simple & lovely

we all carried plain white bouquets, floral bridesmaid dresses & sequin belts by anthropologie (side note -- check out their wedding line, bhldn. I'm obsessed!)

non-traditional (gorgeous) gown by jcrew, orchid in her hair, and she carried her mother-in-law's hankerchief as one (of many) something olds (she also wore my mom's engagement ring next to her own on her right hand.)

home brewed beer for after the ceremony (nice day for a witte wedding, something borrowed - something blueberry ale, happily ever after hefeweizen)

reception setting -- globe lights, teal napkins, small bronze vases with peachy, natural colored flowers, penguin great food series books as favors

happily ever after...
more events & photos to come
